Career Connection is committed to working with employers to foster an inclusive workforce with a focus on people who have an intellectual disability. We recognize the value in a diverse and inclusive team, working with over 100 partners in the Mississauga and surrounding area.
In April 2021, Career Connection connected with Dogtopia of Applewood, a franchised location of the Dogtopia Corporation since December 2019. It was a natural connection with Jorge Ralli, owner and franchisee. With personal experience, as well as a franchised mission of inclusive and diverse hiring, Jorge shared “I know the importance of providing opportunities and chances to people who are looking to better themselves in this world.”
While Dogtopia has a training manual available to support their commitment to an inclusive and diverse workforce, Career Connection was able to provide services at no charge to pre-screen and match candidates to the business’ needs and provide on-site coaching and supports to ensure a successful and mutually beneficial relationship between employer/employee. To date, two people have been hired and are working to ensure a healthy and safe environment, with the added bonus of interactions with furry friends.
Jorge appreciates “if someone is good enough to volunteer at my facility, they should get paid for their work.” At Career Connection, we agree and support businesses to meet their hiring needs, foster an inclusive and diverse workforce and have positive business outcomes.
